DeWalt DWHT83550 ToughSeries 8-3/4 Clamp Jack

Just one of the reasons Bill loves me is that often I send him a link to something telling him I want this.  Now you might be thinking why would he like that you want to spend money?  The answer is he has secretly been wanting the same thing for sometime now but didn’t want to pull the trigger or ask if he could pull the trigger.  I opened that door just a crack for him and he is happy to kick it down.

The DeWalt DWHT83550 Tough Series 8-3/4″ 340 lb. Construction Jack falls into the category of things he wanted silently but I said out loud.   I am currently working in the master bedroom and I want to strip and stain two pieces of furniture.  My preference would be to move them off the carpet and into a different room.  They are heavy and very awkward to move.  I would love to pick them up and use rollers under the four feet to move them.  I can, but I remembered seeing a tool video about these amazing things you can use to lift and hold heavy stuff.  To the interwebs!

After a quick search I found this video from Tool Nut Review. Okay now I have name for this tool lets see if I can find it cheaper.

Harbor Freight – Farm Jack(s) singles 48″ $99.99 and 60″ $109.99 (not exactly the jack I was looking for)

Home Depot had the DeWalt Jack single for $119.00 (It looked like our store has these in stock.)

Lowes had the IRWIN Blue 0.165-Ton Steel Manual Material handling jack single for $119

Amazon IRWIN Quick Lift Construction Jack 2 pack $186.00

ACME Tools IRWIN Quick Lift Construction Jack single $99.99

mechablend IRWIN Quick Lift Construction Jack single $49.99 (never heard of this site and not willing to even click on the link)

Lowes also had a VEVOR Black 0.22-Ton Aluminum Manual Construction Jack single for $38.79

If you ask me the difference between aluminum and steel is a deal breaker depending on what you want them for AND price.  For what I want I could get away with the aluminum ones but for other jobs they probably won’t work.  At the price I found the steel jacks from a brand name like DeWalt for, I’ll go steel.  I know it’s double the money but I feel it is also double the functionality.

Amazon also has the DeWalt Jack single for as low as $8o.  (The Amazon delivery date for Prime members is mid to late April.)

As with all things Amazon they have a large offering of this type of jack, all sorts of brands, all sorts of prices.

ACME Tools also has the DeWalt Jack 2 pack bundle for $249.00 (it’s on backorder and you can’t even place an order for it but you can select to be notified when it’s back in stock.)

ToolNut has the DeWalt Jack 2 pack bundle right now for $159.00 which is by far the best price I could find.

This price deal is while supplies last.  Limited time.  Normally the pair sells for $258.00. They offer free shipping, 2 and 3 yr protection plans, payment options are Shop, PayPal and GPay as well as offering interest-free payments to qualified buyers.  There is also a points earned deal which I’m not sure what that means.  In addition once a month you can enter your email address for a chance to win a $500 shopping spree, looks like no purchase necessary.

As for why I picked DeWalt over Irwin:

    • I like that the slide up/down on the DeWalt is on top of the handle, the Irwin’s is under the handle.
    • DeWalt has a 10 lb max lift edge on the Irwin
    • Irwin can lift just a little higher 10″ to the DeWalt 8-3/4″.
    • One big advantage for the DeWalt is that you can use your foot as well as your hand to lift.  Working alone that can be important.  If you need to steady something, being able to use both your hands or be in a standing position while lifting, being able to use your foot on the handle to raise the item is nice.
    • I also like the release on the DeWalt I can’t explain why.  The Irwin has a flipper kind of release on the side and the DeWalt had a up/down light switch kind of button for release.  Yea I can’t explain it. The Irwin just felt cheaper or more likely to break?  I have nothing to base that opinion on other than my initial impression from watching the video.

Since the two brands at local big box stores are priced the same and honestly the specs on them are pretty close it might just depend on which one you can find, brand loyalty, sales events, task needs and personnel preference.  Had I been able to find the Irwin for cheaper, other than the one site that I won’t even try to go to, I would not have been opposed to buying it.

If you have been thinking about buying a Construction Jack, right now is a good time to go to Tool Nut and get in on the deal.

We are not affiliated, we get no kick back, they don’t even know who we are other than we placed an order.  I just happened to be looking at these today and did the research for pricing, found what looks like a great bargain and shared it with Bill who bought it before I could change my mind.  He confirmed that this was a good price because he had priced them out before.

I figured I would share with you too because hey who doesn’t want to save money.
